Allergies? Time For a Little Relief!
It’s allergy season, with increased allergens and pollen counts. Everywhere you go, people are sneezing, coughing or suffering with runny noses and sinus headaches. These little irritations are enough to keep you home instead of out enjoying youreself at the park, playing golf, or taking a walk by the beach. The knee-jerk response is to take antihistamines, but there are natural remedies for dealing with allergies.
You don’t have to deal with this. Simple home remedies may help give you some relief. One thing that helps is wrapping a hot towel around your face (of course, the towel shouldn’t be so hot that you burn yourself). Make sure you squeeze most of the water up or you will end up all wet! Wrap the towel around your face, allowing it to cover you forehead and nasal area. Make sure you have space to breath. Now just lay back and relax. Let the heat break up the mucus in your sinuses. You can do this several times a day for relief.
Another important thing to take note of is your diet. After all, you are what you eat. If you’re eating lots of junk food and dairy, it may be helpful to change your diet a little. Eating foods like fruits and vegetables and lean meats will result in a decreased mucus production in the body. This will definitely help curb your sinus pains and help relieve the body’s reaction to pollutants that may cause allergies.
Finally, go visit your chiropractor! On top of getting a good adjustment which will help the nervous system better deal with allergies, your chiropractor can also work on clearing the sinuses. Several different techniques allow for adjustment of the sinuses (remember even the bones in the skull have joints that may need to be relieved of stress).
You don’t have to live with sinus irritation and allergies any more. Try a natural approach, and enjoy the relief.
